1938 Marx, Mechanical Speed Boy Delivery Motorcycle in Original Box

1938 Marx, Mechanical Speed Boy Delivery Motorcycle in Original Box

Awesome example of Marx's classic three-wheel "Mechanical Speed Boy Delivery Motorcycle" in near mint condition complete with original box. Last time I found one this nice was 8 years ago. It was part of a recently found toy hoard.

The toy is all tin litho with a wind-up clockwork motor. It features a uniformed three dimensional figure dressed in high brown boots, blue pants, red jacket, silver gloves, goggles, and a red and silver cap.

The front half of the cycle is all embossed with a freely spinning front wheel (black tire with red hub). The rider's body is integrated as part of the cycle. As you can see the engine has lots of neat-o details like coil-like things and exhaust pipes (you can tell I'm not a bike rider). The gas tank and front fender are mostly yellow with silver forks and silver handlebars with gauge or light.

The rear of the vehicle resembles a wooden stake delivery container with red interior. However the recessed brown squares are solid. Earlier versions had die cut squares. It's mounted on a red trailer with matching wheels. It uses an attached key with the motor housed underneath the trailer.

The box is all standard red printed text. It's complete with all 8 original endflaps.
